Wake

I started writing and recording this album in December of 2020. I had really buckled down on learning guitar at the time and started writing ideas. I was enduring the distance that Covid had created along with watching my best friend battle brain cancer and my pastor and friend pass from Covid. I had many emotions entangled in these songs that came to be. I consider it an outlet for what’s held inside. A way to let out the feelings through vibrations. Listening back it’s almost therapeutic in a sense of healing from what’s happened over the years and growing as a human being.

I had a few of my friends make appearances on this album to bring some life to the skeletons. Mr. Jarrod Cox, Tucker Ellis, Austin McPherson, and Nathan Purifoy. Thank you all so much for making this special for me and for creating memories. This will be something that lives on forever. A time stamp of creation and healing.

The album title “Wake” has many different meanings that help to shed some light on what the whole composition is about. To awake from sleep, to awaken from a dream, to gain knowledge, a vigil for those who have passed.

My friends Don Peacock and Pastor Lyndon Purifoy had a tremendous amount of influence on this album. I dedicate Wake to both of them for all the time and gratitude they had ever given to me. They were both not only mentors in my life but also great friends that I could tell the world to and they also meant the world to me. I lost both within a year of each other and and it was one of the toughest chapters in my life I’ve had to endure yet. A sense of loss and reverence. I’m trying my best to live a life they would have been proud of. A life of helping others and contributing not only to my friends and family, but to my community and society as a whole. If you want to make a difference start there….
